Say Yes to Life (No Gym Required)

How 15 Minutes a Day Keeps Me Strong, Joyful, and Always Ready for the Next Adventure

Let’s get one thing straight: I don’t love working out.

There, I said it.
​
​I don’t crave barbells or burpees. I don’t daydream about gyms or follow any 12-week transformation plan.

But I do count reps. I have run a half marathon (yep!). And I’m not ruling out another one.
Because while I don’t train like an athlete, I do live like an adventurer.
And that means staying ready—for the unexpected hike, the long yoga day, the spontaneous dance floor moment, or a trek through the Himalayas.
And no — I don’t prepare for Nepal in any fancy or special way.
No altitude masks. No extreme training plans.

What’s my secret?
​A little bit of movement. Every damn day.
Even when I’m traveling. Even when life is chaotic. Even when I’d rather be horizontal.
It’s not complicated. It’s not trendy.
It’s just a ritual—a 15-minute moment I carve out for myself to move, breathe, and stay connected to my strength.
Sometimes it’s yoga. Sometimes it’s jump rope (better than coffee, I swear).


And when I have zero equipment and just a patch of floor, I go for my go-to:

The 30/20/10 Workout
​
No props. No excuses. Just results.

  1. 30 squats (add jumps if you’re feeling spicy)
  2. ​20 lunges per leg (regular or jumping)
  3. 10 push-ups (on toes, knees, or even on the wall)
  4. 20 crunches (if there’s space to sit)

→ Repeat for 3–5 rounds. Takes about 15 minutes.

Heart rate up, muscles on fire, mind crystal clear.
It’s not about punishment. It’s about preparation.
This simple combo has carried me through travels, long teaching days, and multiple trekking adventures—without feeling drained or overtrained. Just strong, stable, and ready.

So here’s what I want to tell you:
​You don’t need hours at the gym or fancy gear.
You just need a little bit of movement that fits you.
Something that gets your heart pumping and reminds you that YES — you are powerful, capable, and alive.
And if you’re in a season of feeling stuck, sluggish, or overwhelmed, this is your nudge:
Start small. Start silly. Start sweaty.
But start.

Move like you love yourself—not like you’re trying to fix yourself.
Because when you move with joy, the rest follows.
